Logitech MX518 Review – Trust History!

The MX 518 was an update to Logitech's MX 510 and provides additional programming and button capability. Speaking of button functionality, you can program the buttons for game specific commands.

This is a great convenience and time saver!

Many of us play hours and hours of online games. The ergonomic design of the MX 518 takes this into account. And, yes, that “dented” look is intentional! :-) The contoured grip allows for easy finger and thumb placement and all of the buttons and the scroll wheel are placed logically for quick access. There are five user programmable buttons  along with two buttons near the scroll wheel that allow you to adjust the sensitivity even in the middle of play. This could be especially useful as you are sneaking in some sniping in your favorite FPS game!

Just hit the button to increase the resolution as you are aiming down your scope, and then you can ratchet it down when you are done. The MX518 keeps up with every movement of the mouse and you can’t blame it for any “lag deaths!” You don’t have to worry about the mouse going to sleep as you lay prone in your favorite sniping spot either! For a lot of new MX518 owners, it took a little bit of time to become comfortable, and if this is your first mouse with many buttons, you'll soon be wondering how you gamed this long without these features!
The Logitech MX 518 optical gaming mouse connects to your PC through the attached USB cable. You also have to install the Logitech MX 518 software which will provide a host of programming options for your 518 mouse. This is where you can set up various game profiles that allow you to tweak the mouse settings for every game that you play. These options can also be tweaked for various Windows applications on your computer.

I had been looking for a new gaming mouse and I read thousands of reviews online. I LOVE Logitech products so I knew I wanted to stick with a Logitech mouse. I had it narrowed down to the MX518 and the G500. I chose the MX518 because it was on sale but I'm glad I did! I'm not disappointed at all. Like most people I've used many mice over the years and I really like this one.
I'm right handed with average size hands and this fits perfectly into the palm of my hand. The button action is precise and the scroll wheel is definitely much superior to a standard mouse that seems to always move one extra click after you have finished scrolling, but no issues here. The Forwards and Backwards buttons are a nice feature that I cannot be without any more. The mouse motion across a mouse pad is very smooth and has a good feel to it...
